In July 1994, with funds from the sale of the old school building, the Wickwar Education Foundation was re-established. The Foundation’s aim is to perpetuate Alexander Hosea’s wishes and support the education of Wickwar’s young people. The Foundation has seven Trustees all of whom had close links with the school in the past or who currently work at the school. 

Each year the Foundation sponsors a specific project at the school : in the 2015/16 school year, a Year of Science was held, various workshops including forensic science and a visit by the Bloodhound project were enjoyed by the children;  in the 2016/17 school year the money was used to fund visits to the school by Tom Robson, who is an internationally acclaimed inspirational speaker; and in the 2017/18  school year, the Foundation sponsored the Aardman Animation workshops.  

In the 2018/19 school year, as part of the 'Year of the Arts', the Foundation sponsored music lessons for all pupils. These took place over the course of the whole academic year, with each year group getting the opportunity to have weekly lessons on an instrument for a term. In the Autumn Term, Year 6 learned the saxophone and Year 5 learned the cello. In the Spring Term Year 3 learned the African drums and Year 2 learned the recorder. In the Summer Term, Year 4 learned STOMP and Reception and Year 1 had “Beat Bus” sessions where they used percussion instruments.

In the 2019/20 school year, as part of the 'Year of Citizenship', the money was used to purchase “Jigsaw”. This offers a comprehensive Programme for Primary PSHE, in a spiral, progressive and fully planned scheme of work, giving children relevant learning experiences to help them navigate their world and to develop positive relationships with themselves and others.

In the 2020/21 school year, the money was used to purchase new reading books for the children.

In the 2021/22 school year, the money is again funding music lessons for the children. The Year 6 children had ukulele lessons in the Autumn Term. In the Spring term, the Year 5 children have been learning the cello and the Year 4 children have been learning the cornet. There are more lessons to come for the younger children in the Summer Term.

The Foundation is particularly keen to try and ensure that all Year 5 and Year 6 pupils can attend the school residential trips at Kilve Court and Morfa Bay. These are one of the highlights of the children’s experience of Alexander Hosea School and the Foundation regularly provides financial support for these trips. 

The Foundation also supports schemes which promote road safety. For those attending the pre-17 driving course run by NADIA (the North Avon Driving Instructors Association) a grant of £60 is available. Please email WEF1686@gmail.com  for more information and an application form.
