Children’s University is a charity that works in partnership with schools to develop character, wellbeing, and a love of learning in children from reception age upwards. It is run by Future Quest Primary, who are based at The University of the West of England. Some of their other projects include Book Explorers and Future Me. The project aims to encourage and celebrate participation in extracurricular activities in and outside school. Research shows that participation in extracurricular activities can positively impact on attainment, increase a pupil’s positive identification with school, and build self-confidence and resilience.

Children are encouraged to participate in anything outside the classroom where learning occurs. This covers a wide range of activities including sport, art and design, visits to museums, reading, and much more. Many activities are entirely free! Children are given a ‘Passport to Learning’ where they will fill out the activity and hours completed. They then receive a ‘stamp code’ which verifies they completed the activity. They will also record this online using our digital platform, Children’s University Online. The number of hours recorded online by the end of May qualifies them to participate in an end-of-year graduation ceremony run by Future Quest Primary, with a minimum of 30 recorded hours needed. Students will have a sense of accomplishment with reaching their goals and be able to celebrate their achievements at this graduation ceremony. We were so thrilled in July 2022 to have so many children at our school graduation with Future Quest Primary.
